Larry Fortensky 'Sick and Tired of the Lies' About His Life With Liz Taylor

Apr 25th 2011 05:10PM

Elizabeth Taylor has reportedly left her last husband $800,000 in her will. Larry Fortensky was number seven in Taylor's long line of spouses (eight marriages/seven men) and after years of staying mum on their relationship, the 59-year-old former builder recently opened up to London's Daily Mail.

In a lengthy interview, Fortensky insisted that he was never after Taylor for her money. He reflected on the couple's happy times together and claimed to only be breaking his silence now in an effort to stop the rumors about him being a gold-digger.

"This is nothing to do with money, I have been offered so much over the years," he said. "This is about wanting people to know the real story. I am sick and tired of the lies."
To the public, the two seemed an unlikely match from the get go: he was a construction worker who never finished high school and was 20 years younger, she was among Hollywood's most glamorous, well-known (and well-bejeweled) movie stars.

The pair met during stays in rehab at Betty Ford in 1988 and were married at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in 1991. The marriage was over by 1996 and Fortensky walked away with $1 million in the divorce settlement, which for Taylor was a drop in the bucket (her worth was recently estimated between $600 million and $1 billion).

Lizs Many Marriages

Fortensky's health has been ailing ever since he fell down the stairs in 1999 while he was drunk and he's had more than his share of financial troubles since (his house was repossessed last year). Still, he argued that while he accepted money from Taylor over the years, he never asked, not even when they were married.

"I am a proud man and I like to work. I didn't want her money," he said. "I'd get up at 6am to go to the construction site. Elizabeth would get up, put on a kaftan and we'd have breakfast."

With such a financial gulf between them, Fortensky said he never tried to compete with Taylor- the year she gave him a Harley for Christmas, he gave her chocolate covered roses. Warming to the spotlight though was something he could never do.

"Everywhere we went there were cameras," Fortensky recalls. "Elizabeth would put lipstick on constantly because she said she never knew when she was being photographed. I found it hard. It wasn't my cup of tea, those cameras everywhere. Elizabeth was used to it. I never got used to it."

Fortesnky's short-term memory is suffering, but he was able to take the Mail through a highlight reel of his years with Taylor, from the time she threw a fur coat over her nightgown and ran outside to make a snow angel, to how much the two enjoyed riding his Harley along the coast before stopping for burgers at biker bars.

"Of course she was very pretty and I wasn't too bad-looking in those days either. We had an instant physical attraction," Fortensky said. His sister Donna, who lives with him in a town two hours south of Los Angeles, chimed in a little too much on the subject of their sex life.

"She would call Larry her 'stallion.' He loved that," she said. "They were very sexy together. Larry would get up from the table and drag Liz off to the bedroom."

Forstensky said he and Taylor were not only very much in love during their marriage, but that they continued to have an amicable relationship following the divorce. The two spoke on the phone several times each month.

"I love her, I always will. And I know she loved me, too."

With the money she left him, he's planning on buying a new house.

Kristen Stewart in St. Thomas this weekend, but now he is headed off to Europe for ‘Water for Elephants.’
While his exact destination is unknown, the film will be premiering in Berlin and Paris this week, states HollywoodLife. No word on if Stewart will make another appearance to be by Pattinson’s side.

Women Strip More than Men in Movies Says New Study

A new study has revealed that it really is a man's world in Hollywood and the balance of power between the sexes is as unbalanced as it's always been, with women in movies still far more likely than men to be shot in sexy clothes or partially naked.

As reported by USA Today, the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism studied the highest-grossing films of 2008 (a list which includes Iron Man, The Dark Knight and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) and found some unsurprising statistics, even though the likes of George Clooney think the movie industry is ahead of it's time.

In terms of nudity, the study found that actresses were more 24 per cent more likely to be shot partially nude, versus just eight percent of actors. Similarly, only five percent of men were shown in 'sexy' clothing as opposed to 26 per cent of women. In a recent poll about the 'most paused movie moments', half of the top ten involved female nudity, with Sharon Stone's 'flash' at number one.

The highest percentage of these actresses shown provocatively were teenagers, taking a whopping 40 per cent, with teens also highly more likely to be called 'attractive' by another character. Lead researcher Stacey Smith said "the data speaks to an overemphasis on beauty, thinness and sexualization of women at younger and younger ages."

The study also found out that men are still taking the lion's share of speaking roles (67 per cent) and male characters are increasingly shown in a more positive, powerful light. To top it all off, there are also five times more male directors, producers and writers than women currently working in the movie industry.

Jodie Foster is bullish on 'The Beaver'

April 25, 2011
Jodie FosterAs she has crisscrossed the country tirelessly promoting her latest directorial effort, "The Beaver," Jodie Foster has been keeping in touch via text with Mel Gibson. When the star of your film is also your close friend and Hollywood's leading persona non grata, the messages can get a tad awkward.

"Mel said, 'I will be dragged through gravel for you,'" Foster said in Beverly Hills. "He's been in Costa Rica. I texted him back, 'I don't want you to be dragged through gravel for me. Please do not.'"

Left hanging in the air is what, if anything, Foster does want from Gibson at this point. His personal scandals delayed the film's release for months
prevented him from participating in the movie's publicity and threatened to hijack the message of "The Beaver," a tale of a toy company executive battling depression. Now a famously private feminist icon is in the strange position of making the rounds to defend a man who has become an industry pariah for his racist, sexist, anti-Semitic meltdowns. Yet if she's angry, sad or disappointed that Gibson's problems have overshadowed her first work as a director in 15 years, Foster hides it well behind a kind of old-fashioned Hollywood omertà. "I grew up with the idea that the movie business is a family," she said. "It's like the mob. You don't rat on your friends. Who you are in a business relationship is a reflection of who you are as an artist."

Whether it's a code of honor or maybe just the latest manifestation of the savvy that has kept Foster, 48, working in entertainment since age 3, it seems to be succeeding. Whatever their distaste for Gibson, moviegoers and critics appear willing to at least give "The Beaver" a chance.

After the film's distributor, Summit Entertainment, delayed the movie's fall 2010 release, Foster began quietly screening it for select press shortly after the new year, showing up in person to introduce it. In March, just five days after Gibson pleaded no contest to charges of domestic battery related to a 2010 altercation with his ex-girlfriend, she took "The Beaver" to Austin's South by Southwest Film Festival, where its first public audience gave it a relatively warm embrace.

Early reviews have been more positive than negative. Next week, "The Beaver" will debut in 10 theatrical markets including New York and Los Angeles before Foster takes the movie to the Cannes International Film Festival and the film expands to more theaters in the U.S. and abroad. It's a gamble but one that the two-time Oscar winner may be uniquely equipped to pull off.

"Famous people always kind of have this air," said Jennifer Lawrence, 20, who plays a friend of Gibson's character's son in the film and was nominated for an Oscar this year for "Winter's Bone." "They have this certain way of speaking 'cause they're used to everyone listening to them. Jodie doesn't talk like that. There's a pureness about the way she goes around in the world. As I watched her on set, I said this silent prayer, 'Please let me be like that when I'm older. I don't want to end up like one of those crazy famous people who go off the deep end.'"

Like Foster's previous two films as a director, "Little Man Tate" and "Home for the Holidays," "The Beaver" covers the messy terrain of family relationships. Gibson is Walter Black, a despondent husband and father who begins communicating through a furry beaver hand-puppet he rescues from the garbage. Besides directing, Foster also stars as Walter's long-suffering wife, while "Star Trek's" Anton Yelchin is his troubled teenage son, Porter.

Gibson and Foster became friends on the set of "Maverick" in 1994. In early 2009, nearly three years after Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and delivering an anti-Semitic tirade to a police officer, Foster approached him about playing the role of Walter in "The Beaver" by first-time screenwriter Kyle Killen. The screenplay, which had landed on Hollywood's "Black List" of the top unproduced scripts in 2008, attracted Foster for its raw depiction of a family amid a catastrophe.

"I make movies that look inward, movies about the tragedy of family dynamics," said Foster, whose father left her mother shortly before she was born. "But I'm a pretty well-adjusted person, and I just can't cry in my soup about that."

When Foster sent Gibson the "Beaver" script, he had just finished shooting the conspiracy thriller "Edge of Darkness," which was released in 2010, but had not acted in a movie in theaters since 2003. His personal demons, which include alcoholism and bipolar disorder, did not deter Foster from casting him — they may have made him even more attractive for the role.

"Walter had to be somebody who could carry a puppet with a certain amount of charm and lightness," said Foster. "But more importantly, somebody who could really understand that man's struggles in a way that was visceral and authentic and worn and tired and deep. I just didn't know anyone else who would be able to do both. And that's what I know of Mel, not only as an actor but as a person."

Foster's casting of Gibson in a film that deals with mental illness — and contains one particularly disturbing scene of self-violence — posed challenges from the start.

"There was only one distributor that said yes to two things," said Foster. "Yes [to the violent scene], and yes it's Mel Gibson." That company was Summit, which released the "Twilight" movies and the 2009 best picture Oscar winner "The Hurt Locker."

By the time production got underway in New York in September 2009, Gibson had undertaken two wildly divergent tasks — the mechanics of puppeteering the beaver and voicing that comic character in a Cockney accent, and the art of expressing Walter's pain.

"We rehearsed a cathartic moment," Yelchin recalled. "We improvised. Mel talked, and I listened. He talked about a lot of pain and suffering, the combination of self-pity and self-loathing. You feel pain and then you feel bad for yourself."

As a director who prefers to shoot only one or two takes and move on, Foster was a good match for Gibson, who won an Oscar for directing "Braveheart" and who delivers emotional scenes in quick bursts of energy. "Mel and I work in the same way," she said. "We're people who focus intensely but for a short period of time. One minute he's standing there making a joke. And then, bam! He's in it. It's all about concentration. What do you need to concentrate?"

During reshoots last summer Gibson confided in Foster about his problems with his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, which were about to become public when some racist and threatening voicemails Gibson had left her leaked online. Foster said she considered Gibson's problems "not that unusual. People have struggles in life. Most of us don't have ours expressed on the Internet." Gibson's agency fired him and actors on "Hangover 2" — who had worked with convicted rapist Mike Tyson in the first film — protested Gibson's casting in a cameo scene. Foster, however, stuck by him.

"You couldn't get two people who are more diametrically opposed on everything that they think about religion and politics than what we do," Gibson said of Foster in an interview with freelance journalist Allison Hope Weiner, the only interview he has granted since the tapes were released. "But there is a core of goodness there that's undeniable, and I just love her." For all the melodrama surrounding "The Beaver," it appears both star and director may emerge from the film with their reputations burnished. Foster has walked the delicate line of supporting a friend and defending a pariah, while Gibson has reminded Hollywood he can act and still has the goodwill of friends in high places. Both have new projects in the works. Gibson has attached himself to a script by "Braveheart" writer Randall Wallace, even though he told Weiner he would be happy even if he never acted again.

"I haven't really gotten the chance to tell Mel people like the movie," said Foster. "He's much more sensitive to his self-worth being about whether people go see his films or not than I am, maybe cause he's had more success. It hurts him."

As an actress, Foster just wrapped production on "Carnage," Roman Polanski's adaptation of the play "God of Carnage," and will next appear as a head of state on an alien planet in "Elysium" from "District 9" director Neill Blomkamp. She said she hopes to direct again, perhaps branching into genre films. Whatever type of film she makes, Foster said, its characters will have to be complex. "My bad guys aren't really bad guys, even if they start out that way," she said. "I need to know why everybody is the way they are."

Box Office: Easter moviegoers choose 'Rio' over Tyler Perry's latest 'Madea' film and 'Water for Elephants' [Updated]

April 24, 2011 |  9:27 am
Rio Over Easter weekend at the box office, moviegoers were more interested in "Rio," an animated family film, than "Madea's Big Happy Family."
"Rio," the 3-D cartoon about tropical birds, which was No. 1 when it debuted last weekend, was the top pick again with $26.8 million in ticket sales, according to an estimate from distributor 20th Century Fox. That was only a bit more than the solid $25.8 million collected by Tyler Perry's new film starring his loud-mouthed grandmother character, Madea. "Water for Elephants," a romantic drama starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, got off to a better-than-expected start, grossing $17.5 million. The weekend's other new wide release, the wildlife documentary "African Cats," did $6.4 million in ticket sales.
Box-office-madea-rio Overall, ticket sales this weekend were up roughly 39% compared with the same weekend last year. That's the first time the box office has been up a substantial amount this year.
Heading into the weekend, "Rio" had already made just over $50 million at the box office. The film, which features the voices of actors Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway, saw only a 32% drop in sales from last weekend. With its domestic total now standing at $81.3 million and the film already over the $200-million mark overseas, the $90-million budgeted-movie will likely end up as a financial success for Fox.
Perry's latest movie -- his fourth starring Madea as a protagonist -- opened to slightly less than the two most recent films featuring the famous cross-dressing character. "Madea's Family Reunion" debuted in 2006 to $30 million, while 2009's "Madea Goes to Jail" launched with $41 million. Both of those films opened in February, but Perry's films have seen success in April as well: Last Easter weekend, his ensemble drama "Why Did I Get Married Too?" debuted to $29.3 million -- his biggest opening for a movie not starring the recognizable character.
"Madea's Big Happy Family" drew in Perry's core audience -- older African American women. The crowd who saw the movie this weekend was 72% female and 81% African American and they loved the movie, giving it an average grade of A, according to market research firm CinemaScore. Strong word-of-mouth will be important for the film, which cost Lionsgate about $25 million to produce, as Perry's fans typically rush out to see his movies on their opening weekends.
Water "Water for Elephants," based on Sara Gruen's bestselling novel about a 1930s traveling circus, had a budget of about $40 million. Most of those who saw the film seemed to be either older women familiar with the book or fans of young "Twilight" heartthrob Pattinson, as the audience was 70% female. And those moviegoers enjoyed the picture, giving it an average grade of A-minus. That positive buzz could be especially good news for the movie because audiences don't usually run to see adult dramas on their first weekend in theaters.
In any event, the movie is off to a far better start than Pattinson's last nonvampire movie. In March 2010, his Sept. 11 drama "Remember Me" opened only to a modest $8.1 million. The "Water for Elephants" results could mean that he's being taken more seriously as a dramatic actor -- or perhaps just that he should star in more films alongside popular leading ladies with box office clout, like Witherspoon.
"African Cats" was received well by audiences, who gave the film an average grade of A-minus. The movie's opening weekend was on par with previous films made by Disneynature, the Walt Disney Studios label that produces documentaries about nature and wildlife. The division's first release, 2009's "Earth," opened to $8.8 million, while last year's "Oceans" debuted to $6 million.
Meanwhile, "Hop," an animated film about the Easter bunny's teenage son, had a strong weekend, probably due to its holiday-related subject matter. "Hop" collected $12.5 million this weekend, bringing its domestic tally just over the $100-million mark to $100.5 million. The film's ticket sales were actually up 16% from last weekend -- a rare feat for a movie in its fourth week in theaters.
In limited release, Sony Pictures Classics' "Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold," the latest documentary from filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, collected $135,139 from 18 theaters for a per-theater average of $7,506. The distributor also released "Incendies," which was nominated for best foreign language film at this year's Oscars, and took in $54,582 for a better per-theater average of $18,194.
[Updated at 10:35 a.m.: "Rio's" international success continued this weekend, as the film crossed the $200-million mark overseas. The movie grossed $44.2 million in 67 foreign markets, pushing its international total to $204.7 million. As in previous weekends, the movie performed best in Brazil -- where it is set -- only falling 7% from last weekend and collecting $6.7 million.

20th Century Fox also opened "Water for Elephants" in 14 foreign markets, where it earned $1.7 million. The only major market the film debuted in was Russia, where it grossed $1 million.

Here are the top 10 movies at the domestic box office, with foreign grosses where available, according to studio estimates and Hollywood.com:

Artist of the Week: Hollywood Undead

April 25, 2011 06:15:36 GMT
Hollywood Undead are one of the rare bands who combine rap and rock. That's one way to get recognizable and another is to hide their identity behind masks. The band had broken through Billboard Hot 200 chart since their first album "Swan Songs" but their sophomore effort, "American Tragedy", did even better by landing at number 4 and selling 70,000 copies.

"I gotta be honest with everyone: I was really looking forward to the opportunity to be on top of Britney this week, but being right behind her and Adele is a memory we'll relish forever," member Charlie Scene said about the second album's achievement.

Musically, Hollywood Undead combine alternative rock, hip-hop and dance sound. They often confuse people of where to place them in the genre for their broad use of musical instruments. The second album came from the productions of Kevin Rudolf and S*A*M & Sluggo. But the band had toured with rock stars, like Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour, in the past.

They are now supporting the second album which they called "very Hollywood Undead" with in-store appearances and a headlining tour.

In tow with the new album, the band have changed the design of their respective masks. Johnny 3 Tears explained, "They're not the same, but we just tricked them out. Like mine has a light in it. We altered them enough so they look different but they're not so different. Just like the music, we wanted to keep it interesting. We don't want to get boring."

Taylor left final husband $800K, gave monthly payments

Sunday, April 24, 2011 10:37:50 EDT AM

Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s final husband Larry Fortensky has broken his silence and given a rare interview about his life with the late superstar.

The Hollywood legend, who passed away in March, was married eight times - twice to Richard Burton - and her last husband was former construction worker Fortensky, who she met in rehab at California's Betty Ford Clinic.

They married in 1991, but the union came to an end five years later in 1996.

Fortensky has remained largely out of the spotlight since the divorce, but has now broken his silence following his ex-wife's tragic death from congestive heart failure.

In an interview with Britain's Mail on Sunday, Fortensky opens up about the monthly payments Taylor was rumoured to have given him after their divorce, revealing he never asked her for any money, but she insisted when he was left seriously injured in a fall and was subsequently unable to work.

Taylor wrote him a letter, which reads, "Darling Larry. I've been thinking of you often lately and worry about you...I'm going to rely on my gut feelings. I think you could use a little help so I would like to send you a thousand a month for the rest of my life or until I go broke."

Fortensky says, "I accepted it but I never asked for it," while his sister, Donna, admits she was the one who called Taylor when her brother's house later went into foreclosure. She adds, "I called her and told her about Larry's troubles. She sent me a cheque the next day for $15,000. Larry found out what I'd done and was mad at me. It kept the bank at bay for a while but then he ended up losing his house anyway."

Fortensky admits he was in regular contact with his ex-wife right up until her final stay in hospital and was shocked when she lost her fight for life: "(The last time I spoke to her) she was going into hospital the next day. I thought she was going to be OK. I told her she would outlive me. She said, 'Larry, I'm going to be OK'. I was so shocked (when I heard news of her death). I was so sure she would get to go home and I would talk to her once again."

Fortensky also reveals he recently received a letter from Taylor's lawyers informing him she left him $800,000 in her will.

Armed robbers hit Hollywood Cinema: April 24, 2011. Police are searching for the second of two armed robbers who took an unknown amount of cash f rom Hollywood Cinema in Grand Chute early Sunday. One robber was apprehended in an Appleton neighborhood.

GRAND CHUTE — Police have one man in custody and are searching for another man in connection with an armed robbery early Sunday at the Marcus Hollywood Cinema, 513 N. Westhill Blvd.

Police said they recovered a weapon and a large amount of cash from the man who was taken into custody, and they literally were following a paper trail of money in the search for the second man.

The search area included portions of Appleton and the towns of Grand Chute and Menasha, and takes in Outagamie and Winnebago counties.

Police identified the man in custody as Cornelius D. Carolina, 30. He was booked into the Outagamie County Jail on police charges of robbery, false imprisonment, recklessly endangering safety and a probation/parole hold.

Police said anyone with information about the second suspect should call the Grand Chute Police Department at 920-832-1575, or anonymously at 800-782-7463.

According to Grand Chute police Sgt. Aaron Schellinger, officers were summoned to Hollywood Cinema at 6:20 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

An employee said that while he was in the building, he was approached by two males wearing all black, with their faces covered by ski masks.

One of them brandished a firearm and they indicated that they wanted money. The employee gave them an undisclosed amount of money and they tied him up. Police did not know the suspects left the building.

Grand Chute police were assisted by officers from the Appleton Police Department and Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department in sealing off the scene and searching the building for suspects. They found none.

A short time later, an officer from the Town of Menasha Police Department spotted a male wearing all black walking on Bluemound Drive near Prospect Avenue.

The male started running, with police giving chase.

Officers apprehended the man in the backyard of a home in the 2400 block of Cherokee Drive, which is about a mile south of the theater and north of Prospect near St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Before he was caught, the man dropped a large amount of cash on the lawn. Police also found a handgun near the money.

Police found a large amount of cash and a second handgun near a tree in the yard of a home adjacent to St. Mary’s Cemetery, less than two blocks south of Cherokee Drive.

Police started their search for the second man at that point.

One police officer said money was “floating away from the guy like snow” as the man who was caught was running away.

Grand Chute police Lt. Mike Velie said the Hollywood Cinema employee was not injured, although an ambulance was called as a precautionary measure.

Velie said an Easter morning church service had been scheduled there later in the morning. That service was not held at the theater as police continued their investigation.

Mel Gibson breaks silence on domestic violence scandal

Apr 24,2011

LOS ANGELES – Mel Gibson has broken his silence on his damaging domestic violence scandal, calling the leak of angry personal phone calls with his then-girlfriend last year a "personal betrayal."
The Oscar-winning director of "Braveheart" described the leaked tapes, in which Gibson was heard ranting, swearing and threatening Russian girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, "terribly humiliating and painful for my family."
Gibson added that he did not care if he ever acted again.
"I’ve never treated anyone badly or in a discriminatory way based on their gender, race, religion or sexuality – period," Gibson told Hollywood journalist Allison Hope Weiner in a lengthy interview for website Deadline Hollywood on Friday.
Gibson last month pleaded no contest to a charge of hitting Grigorieva, the mother of his baby daughter, as their relationship broke down in early 2010.
He was sentenced to three years probation, a year of counseling and community service.
In his first public comments on the saga, Gibson said the tapes of phone calls leaked a year ago were edited, adding; "It’s one terribly, awful moment in time, said to one person, in the span of one day and doesn’t represent what I truly believe or how I’ve treated people my entire life."
"Who anticipates being recorded? ... Who could anticipate such a personal betrayal?" Gibson said.
Gibson’s longtime manager left him, his movie "The Beaver" was delayed for months, and actors on the sequel to comedy "Hangover 2" refused to work with him because of the fall-out of the sexist and racist remarks on the tapes.
They were leaked to the media as Gibson was trying to make an acting comeback after making vicious anti-Semitic remarks during a 2006 drunken driving arrest, and the end of his 28-year marriage.
The delayed movie is "The Beaver," in which Gibson plays a depressed husband who communicates through a beaver hand puppet.
But Gibson seemed unconcerned by what movie-goers would think of him as an actor now.
"I don’t care if I don’t act anymore," he said. "I could easily not act again. It’s not a problem. I’m going to do something now because I want to do it and because it’s fun."

2 rescued bloodhounds may be Hollywood stars

(04-23) 10:44 PDT Doyline, La. (AP) --

The gaunt bloodhound wandered the streets in Shreveport. He had no collar or microchip when he was brought to a shelter. Euthanasia was a possibility.
But Hogan, about 2 years old, and Millie, a pup rescued earlier by the seven-state South Central Bloodhound Club, may be headed for stardom. Both have been adopted by Studio Animal Services of Castaic, Calif., which trains animals for TV shows, commercials and movies.
"We're getting two dogs that will double each other, replacing a dog that we're retiring," said trainer Sue Chipperson.
Eleven-year-old Dixie is semi-retired, used only if a director wants a bloodhound that looks old, she said.
Millie was seven months old when her owner surrendered her to an animal shelter shortly before Christmas,
"If we hadn't pulled her she'd be dead right now instead of being trained for TV," said Karen Gillespie, of Doyline, director of the bloodhound club. The puppy arrived in California five or six weeks ago.
"Millie's doing great. She is a little sweetheart," Chipperson said. "We take her on the set with us. She's experiencing being out, being in a crate, out of the crate, meeting people — we take them with us so they get used to the whole lifestyle."
Chipperson said she took both dogs without seeing even a photo, based on a colleague's recommendation of Gillespie's group and Gillespie's descriptions of the dogs.
"We have to go by Karen's word as to what the dog's personality is like. Karen doesn't want to adopt a dog out that won't be suitable," Chipperson said.
Gillespie, who has 15 rescued bloodhounds at her home and oversees 10 more in foster homes, got the stray now named Hogan treated for heartworms, neutered and placed in a foster home. Then she got an e-mail from Chipperson and Studio Animal Services owner Karin McElhatton.
They own about 100 dogs and 100 other animals including cats, ducks, squirrels, horses and a burro, Chipperson said.
Their dogs aren't trained as pets would be, Chipperson said. "I always like to joke around that we actually train our dogs to do naughty things. I'll never correct a dog for jumping up on someone. Nine out of 10 times, if you correct a dog for jumping up you'll get a dog where it has to barrel down a hallway and knock someone over."
As Gillespie would for anyone else looking to take on a bloodhound, she checked out the company's reputation, veterinarians and references.
"We have some that are unadoptable but they will live out their lives at my home or our foster homes," Gillespie said. "But if we can find them a home that's what we do so they can have that individualized attention and loving home. I adopted out seven last month."
Studio Animal Services paid the regular $250 adoption fee for Hogan and Mille, plus transportation costs — which, for Hogan, included a ticketed attendant to fly with him, Gillespie said.
Gillespie said she has matched bloodhounds to families across Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. The breed must be understood, she said.
"They are busy, busy dogs and you have to know that going in," she said.
Fenced yards are a must for outside activities but they prefer to sleep indoors where they can interact with the family.
"They are an awesome breed; so smart," Gillespie said.

girls aged 13 to 20 are more likely than grown women to be portrayed as “sex objects” in films.

April-22-2011

The Girls on Film - "Star Trek"It is not news to feminists and others who pay attention that all is not equal in the movie industry. When you pay attention, it's blindingly obvious that women are not getting the screen time, nor the same quality of screen time, as men. When women do get screen time, they are often not the subject of the scene, but its object, quite often the “sex object”. Worse, girls aged 13 to 20 are more likely than grown women to be portrayed as “sex objects” in films.
There are a lot of numbers behind this study (pdf), and they are all worthy of review. But more important, I think, is what the numbers reveal about us. First, despite persistent murmurings that the need for feminism is long past, the numbers in the film industry clearly don't support that statement. Only 8% of directors, for example, are women, and 13.6% of writers. This is significant at least in part because in films where the writer, director, or producer was a woman, women got substantially greater non-sexualized speaking roles.
I can hear the objections lining up – who will go to films that are headed by women, star women, don't over-sexualize women? The answer is, of course, women and men. Women buy over 50% of movie tickets. Women flock in droves to movies that have female-centric story lines, even when those story lines are predictable and stereotypical, like the Sex in the City movies. Why? Because we're starved for on-screen representation, even lower quality representation. Women want to be subjects of movies, not objects in movies, just like we are subjects in our own lives. And well told stories attract diverse audiences, regardless of the race or gender of those in leading roles or sitting in the director's chair.
Elizabeth Sladen, who played Sarah Jane in the early Doctor Who series, and reprised her role much later in the spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, died last week of cancer. The outpourings from the science fiction fan community were enormous, not only because her death was unexpected (she was young and kept her condition hidden from her fans) but because Sarah Jane was one of the first and best “subject” roles for women on television. In an era where women were often relegated to roles as screamers, decorations, moms, or maids, Elizabeth Sladen's Sarah Jane was a true companion to the Doctor, a partner in their enterprises who contributed brains and bravery as well as beauty. While we have made some strides since Doctor Who first came on the scene in the early 1970s, it is somewhat disheartening to see how far we still have to go.

Brigitte Nielsen had sex with Sean Penn Arnie and Sly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Published: Friday, Apr 22, 2011, 14:49 IST

Danish actress Brigitte Nielsen has disclosed in her new autobiography that she bedded some of Hollywood's leading men, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Sean Penn.
In an extract from her new autobiography You Only Get One Life, the 47-year-old, recovering alcoholic and who now goes by her original name Gitte, has lifted the lid on her racy past, reports The Sun.
During the filming of Red Sonja in Rome, Nielsen discovered that Schwarzenegger was charming, kind, confident and very down-to-earth though his body always seemed impossible.
"You couldn't ignore it when we were running around half-naked in our battle gear! I can't say that the look did much for me but he was an incredible sight," she said in the book.
"We both knew that when the film was finished, so were we. Time was limited so we didn't hold back - we really made the most of it. The set lights would barely be off before we disappeared to do our thing. We wanted time to ourselves and we wanted to try everything. And when we were alone, that's exactly what we did," she added.
Later while promoting Red Sonja in New York, Nielsen said she wrote a letter to Sylvester Stallone, whom she described as 'very beautiful, sexiest, most delicious man she'd ever seen' to meet him.
"We met a few times, with him always trying to persuade me into bed. Finally Sylvester called me again, asking me to stay with him at his house in Broad Beach in Malibu," she said.
"When I arrived we spent a relaxed evening and that night we were together for the first time. We did it on a chair - a big, American chair. My main memory of it was that it had finally happened," she added.
Nielsen met Sean Penn and Charles Bronson in a club in Cannes.
"Sean didn't have classic good looks but there was just something about him. I was completely sold on him - it was purely sexual and very hot," she said.
"We spent an outrageous night together in Sean's hotel room. It was just what I wanted - awesome," she wrote in her book.

Oliver Stone Wants Blake Lively For ‘Savages’

Oliver Stone has his eyes set on Blake Lively for his new movie Savages. But in all honesty, who doesn’t want Blake Lively? That’s like saying a fish wants water or Paula Deen wants butter. Or Guy Fieri wants hair product. I’m not sure why we’re picking on celebrity chefs today, but go with me here.

Anyway, Stone originally wanted Jennifer Lawrence but she had to go and accept the lead role in what could be a new major franchise - The Hunger Games. Now the Oscar winning filmmaker has another blond in mind with the lovely Lively, though the Green Lantern starlet has other conflicts to face before she can sign up for the gig. Lively is also in contention for a big role in Sam Raimi’s Oz, The Great and Powerful as the Good Witch of the East, and let’s be honest: Lively looks like a good witch. The fate of the film's intended June start date rests on whether or not Stone can cast the wild-child female lead Ophelia in time, so if Lively passes he may be forced to go back to the drawing board for the character (he’s also considering Teresa Palmer and Olivia Wilde).

In any event, Savages follows two Laguna beach pot dealers forced to work for a Mexican cartel after the girlfriend they share is kidnapped (kinky). Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch are in talks for the two weed men and that’d be one hell of threeway. Which is exactly what Lumiere had in mind when he invented the motion picture. Thanks Mr. Stone!

Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise On the 'RoboCop' Reboot Shortlist?

Tuesday, April 12, 2011
Keanu ReevesIt seems like MGM and Jose Padihla are looking for a big name to take Peter Weller's iconic role in their upcoming RoboCop reboot. Rumor has it that Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves are all being considered for the role, but even if that's true, we can't really know if any of them will likely take the role. Personally, I think they're all too niche to take it, but it seems that when it comes down to it, MGM wants someone recognizable in that suit.

I'm not really sure why they want such a big name headlining the reboot; the name should speak for itself. Padihla is looking to do a complete reboot, departing from the original, but there's really little insight as to why a name like Depp or Cruise would help that. Not to mention the idea that names like this are likely to not be attracted to this sort of project. You tend to look for names on their way up in these instances -- hello, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man or Henry Cavill as Superman. As Screenrant points out, this may be a move to focus the story more on Alex Murphy before he becomes RoboCop to separate this rendition from the originals, but even if that's the case, big names aren't necessarily the answer. If they're looking to rely on back story, they should seek out up-and-comers or guys on the cusp of mega-stardom. With a franchise as well-known as RoboCop, adding in a name that many viewers have a preformed opinion about when they're likely to also hold strong opinions about the franchise itself is just too much. Give us an Ian Somerhalder or even a Jeremy Renner (though on second thought, he's in too many movies right now, let's give him a rest).

Audiences will go to the theater because of the hold the original has on them. Adding a big name will only serve as confusion, and likely, a point of contention for fans.
